About The Teaching Chest
The Teaching Chest was created by The Headteacher – an experienced educator with 25 years in the classroom and as an actual headteacher.
After years of watching staff spend countless hours preparing lessons, filling in paperwork and having to rely on one-size-fits all resources, one frustration kept appearing: most resources available online were locked into fixed PDFs. They couldn’t be edited, adapted, or personalised to suit different learners or a school’s branding.
As a result, The Teaching Chest was born!
Every resource on the site is fully editable. That means you can change the colours, fonts, branding and, most importantly, the content itself. Questions can be adapted, layouts can be adjusted and materials can be tailored to suit your classroom. You can copy pages and add them to your teaching presentation for the day, or use them as a standalone resource.
This flexibility allows teachers to use the same material with different learners. For example, older pupils working at a lower level can access appropriate content without the embarrassment of obviously “younger” resources.
The materials themselves are designed to be simple, clear and elegant. Fonts and stylistic features remain consistent across the site so that teachers know exactly what they are getting. Cartoon-style graphics and overly bright colours are deliberately avoided in order to support calmer learning environments and minimise distractions. Of course, because the resources are editable, you are free to customise them however you wish.
Over time, The Teaching Chest will grow to include resources across all subjects and year groups, with specialist materials added as the collection expands.
We are always keen to hear from teachers about what would help most in the classroom. If you have an idea for a resource, please leave a suggestion in the box on the home page and we will work on creating it for future release.
